Paving his Way

Thanks to my affiliation with Dunn Deal Pr, I got the chance to interview an upcoming Chicago emcee by the name of "Pavy" (Progressive Ambitious Vigorous Youngin'). As my regular readers know I am always excited to introduce & share new artists. I have a special love & respect for underground artists who share my love for music. These experiences are always inspiring to me, I love being able to get to know artists to help me better understand the place in which their music comes from. So here's what we talked about...

dOKE: In one word, what does music mean to you?

Pavy: Life

dOKE: TRUST ME I get it! Ok, what is your ultimate goal in music?

Pavy: To be the best/most successful artist on the face of the earth and a cultural icon for my generation. When someone thinks of Generation Z I want "Pavy" to the first person they think of.

dOKE: I honestly believe that we should all strive to be the BEST at what we love, so I sincerely hope that you grind hard and stay focused to achieve that. What are some of your artist influences? (this question never gets old).

Pavy: DMX, Jay-Z, Eminem, Drake & everyday life

dOKE: Hov influence is always great because well he's great, The Greatest if you ask me! Don't know how to feel about Drake being in that company but hey you didn't ask me so next question. Do you believe hip-hop is dead? If so, how will your music help revive it? If not, why?

Pavy: To me hip-hop is alive and well simply because it's so much versatility right now. There are a million different sub genres in hip-hop right now so if you don't like one thing you aren't forced to listen to it. There are also  A LOT of dope artist out right now and on the rise. Even if it was dead or something like that I come from a different place, I wouldn't be trying to save hip-hop or anything what I do is bigger than that, I want to save people.

dOKE: I love that you said that, I tell people all the time that music saves, its truly medicine for life. What artists &/or producers would you like to work with?

Pavy: Kanye West, Jay-Z, Eminem, Rick Ross, Kid CuDi, Drake and the list just goes on and on...oh also Rihanna had to mention her. As far a producers Kanye again, 40, Lex Lugar, Boi Da Wonder, Justice League..that's tough too because it's just so many great producers out there.

dOKE: What makes you different from the other artists grinding just like you to be heard?

Pavy: The fact that this is more than just music to me, this is life and I don't want to have one if people are listening and taking something from my music to help them live their lives. I don't even want to be looked at as a rapper or anything like that I'm just a guy with a lot of theories and has way to make them rhyme. Plus for me the money would never be enough I care more about the influence on people more than anything. That's why I always take the time to explain my rhymes to people because I really want you to understand what I mean by what I say in them.

dOKE: What do you want your audience to gain from listening to your music?

Pavy: Just a understand of me as a person, and how I think. And hopefully I give other people light bulb moments that make them question certain things as well. I just want to speak for those people who traditionally haven't had a voice in the hip hop culture no matter where they may be in the world.

dOKE: What other talents do you have? What other things outside of music would you like to accomplish?

Pavy: I'm not a real talented person, but I would love to try to act.....oh also I want to shoot a movie documentary style about my rise to super-stardom and have it be the #1 movie in America..that would be so much swag.

dOKE: Five random things that most people don't know about you?

Pavy: 1. I own a physical copy of EVERY Rihanna CD to ever be released. 2 Heartless, Unthinkable & All Of The Lights in that order are the best songs EVER to me. 3. Billionaire Boys Club T-Shirts are my favorite type of T-Shirt. 4. I once had a strong addiction to Monster Energy Drinks 5. I have never been inside a club because I'm saving that fun for the day I got Platinum so I can pour Rose' all over white girls heads.....seriously though go listen to Neglect .

dOKE: Pavy thanks so much for choppin it up with me, I look forward to more music from you and I wish you all the success you deserve!!

Pavy: thanks for the interview!
